Keynote Speaker – Biography

Mark Howard is Chief Revenue Officer at Forbes Media. In this role, he is responsible for the U.S. and European digital and print sales organization, marketing, U.S. conferences and advertising solutions. Previously, he was SVP of Digital Advertising Strategy.

Mr. Howard also held the position of SVP and VP of Digital Advertising Sales for Forbes Media, overseeing the global sales team in its online sales efforts as well leading the Western Region team in its integrated sales efforts. He was also charged with developing the corporate digital sales strategy, which included new product development, the creation and development of audience segmentation programs and strategic planning.

Mr. Howard joined Forbes Media as a Regional Sales Manager in 2002. During his time at Forbes, he has also served as West Coast Digital Sales Director and Western Region Director of Integrated Sales.

Prior to joining Forbes Media, Mr. Howard held sales positions at Inc. and Fast Company magazines, as well as E-Trade Financial. He began his career as a media planner at Anderson & Lembke. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing. He resides in New York City.

Prior to his journalism career, he spent seven years in the advertising business, working as a media supervisor at Lowe Worldwide and  Ammirati Puris Lintas.

Stuart Schneiderman is Executive Director, Insights + Analytics at Time Inc., where his mission is to conceptualize and deliver Time Inc’s next generation of audience and advertising measurement solutions, providing senior management and advertisers with the insights needed to support their objectives.

Stuart has a long history of media research. Prior to joining Time Inc., Stuart led consumer insights and measurement efforts at Viacom. He also launched research functions at the Associated Press and the Online Publishers Association. Stuart holds degrees from Rutgers and Florida State University. He lives in New Jersey with his wife, daughter, dog and a Camaro.

Ron is Vice President of Digital Research and Standards for the Media Rating Council, Inc. (MRC), a not-for-profit industry organization created in 1963 at the request of the U.S. Congress to assure high ethical and operational standards in audience measurement services.

Ron’s background includes over 10 years of experience in media research auditing, oversight and advisory services. Prior to joining the MRC in March 2015, Ron was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young performing audits on behalf of the MRC with a focus in digital measurement and interacting with MRC management and member organizations. Ron has a thorough knowledge of research best practices, operations, controls and information systems in Internet, Multi-media, Print, Radio and Television measurement services and is a CPA in the state of Florida.

Chrystie Kelly is a diverse media professional. Her expertise ranges from traditional media, digital platforms, consumer research, to marketing strategy. She has been heavily involved in consumer segmentations, multi-channel measurement/ROI, social listening and brand analytics.

Chrystie is in her second stint handling integrated media measurement at UM for ExxonMobil and H&M.   She has helped clients, such as Sony, deliver real business impact by understanding how to improve the end to end consumer experience, assessing the halo affect and defining/implementing a common measurement framework across all divisions.

Chrystie is an active participant in the MRC. Prior to UM, Chrystie worked at Univision Radio, Univision Network Television, and Katz Media.   She studied business with a concentration in Marketing at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Nielsen provides the industry’s leading digital and cross-platform advertising and content measurement solutions – enabling Nielsen’s clients to understand the audiences reached by digital advertising and the audiences who view digital media content across the world.

Prior to this role, David served as an Engagement Manager at the strategy consultancy, McKinsey & Company, where he led consulting teams to advise Fortune 500 clients on issues concerning strategy, new business development, and investment decisions. Prior to her time at UM, Erin was the SVP, North America at 87AM, an independent, full-service digital shop focused on entertainment and culture. She oversaw the agency’s 5 offices and key accounts that included Showtime, NBC, Universal Pictures, The Weinstein Company, A&E Networks/HISTORY, Starz, MGM, Disney Theatrical Group and L’Oreal. Previous to 87AM, Erin ran digital for THE BOOK OF MORMON, The Tony Awards and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.Within those roles, she launched first-to-market partnerships with Google and Spotify, taught Neil Patrick Harris how to tweet and launched the first official OLV playback of Julie Andrews twirling in the Alps in The Sound of Music.

Biography

John Fredette is the Manager of Global Media & Sponsorship Marketing for IBM Corporation. In this role, John is responsible for IBM’s media strategy, investment planning, and cross-discipline integration for all media investments – with an emphasis on digital, social and emerging platforms. John also directs all aspects of media integration and activation for IBM’s global sponsorship properties, including The Masters, USGA, PGA Tour, U.S./French/Australian Open, Wimbledon, and Tony Awards.

John has worked in a variety of marketing roles since joining IBM. His experience includes television, digital, social, branded entertainment, direct and event marketing. Prior to IBM, he worked for TJX Corporation in West Bridgewater, Mass.

John serves on several committees of industry associations, including the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), and International Advertising Association (IAA).

John has an MBA in Marketing from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. and BFA in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

As CEO of Medialets, Richy Glassberg brings decades of experience in media, digital advertising, sales, operations, technology and leadership roles to the industry’s leading mobile measurement and attribution platform. Prior to joining Medialets, Glassberg pioneered digital at Turner Broadcasting by launching CNN.com in 1995, and helped lead businesses for News Corp including Speed Channel and TV Guide Networks. In 1996, he helped guide the industry with his work as a a co-founder of the IAB and served as Vice Chairman for its formative years, helping to establish the organization as the leader in providing industry standards, research, and guidance.  Glassberg currently serves as the chair of the IAB Mobile Measurement Committee, sits on the MRC Digital Board and is a founding board member of Breastcancer.org.

Prior to joining comScore, Mr. Chasin was the principal and founder of Warp Speed Marketing, Inc., a Manhattan-based media research consultancy. Mr. Chasin is a former executive at Arbitron, Inc., and a past President/CEO of Simmons Market Research Bureau and Northstar Interactive. In his career, Mr. Chasin has been directly involved in the development and management of audience measurement services for a variety of media, including television, radio, magazines, newspapers, out-of-home, and the Internet.

Scott joined Integral Ad Science in 2011 and has helped expand the company’s offerings from brand safety to a full suite of advertising analytics measuring media inventory quality and its impact on driving results. Under his leadership, Integral has become the de facto standard for a majority of the industry for measuring ad viewability, fraud, safety and overall inventory quality. Furthermore, the company’s solutions have become critical to the entire digital media ecosystem for maximizing advertising performance across display, video and mobile. In his 3 years since joining, the company has expanded to Europe and Asia and was recently recognized as the 6th Fastest growing company in the New York area by Crain’s Magazine.

Prior to Integral, Scott was most recently the founder and President of Aperture, the audience targeting and measurement technology platform that provides business intelligence to blue chip brands, agencies, and online publishers. Scott has more than 18 years of global experience in internet technology, digital advertising, and traditional media. Prior to Aperture, Scott spent six years as a senior executive at DoubleClick Inc., directing the launch and development of the DoubleClick ad network in nine countries, including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Taiwan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Korea. Scott also served as managing director of DoubleClick Asia Pacific and Vice President and General Manager of Global Marketer Solutions.

Previously, Scott co-founded and served as COO of Verified Person, and has held management roles at Time Warner Inc. and Andersen Consulting. Scott holds an MBA from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University.

Biography

Bill Tucker joined the 4A’s in 2014. He serves as the association’s central liaison with the industry media community and oversees the 4A’s media and data community, task forces, committees and forums. In addition, he develops strategic partnerships for the annual Transformation conference, the Data Summit and other initiatives, and is responsible for programming the media and data programs for these signature 4A’s events.

Bill has held several prominent leadership roles in the industry. Most recently, he served as president of global client operations for Publicis Groupe’s Starcom MediaVest Group, where he worked for nearly 15 years. From 2007 to 2012, Bill was MediaVest CEO; prior to that, he was president of client operations (2006-2007) and executive vice president/managing director (1999-2006). While at MediaVest, Bill also held management positions that included executive responsibility for SMG Performance Marketing, under which SMG Search and Halogen (a direct response agency) are grouped. Before joining MediaVest, he was executive vice president/media director of N.W. Ayer & Partners and executive vice president of North Castle Partners and worked at advertising agencies Chiat\Day and Saatchi & Saatchi. He regularly served as a 4A’s Media Policy Committee member.

Bill earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Villanova University and attended the Stern School of Business at New York University, where he also served as an adjunct professor of the undergraduate program. He currently serves on the dean’s advisory board for the Villanova School of Business, the board for the nonprofit Partnership with Children, the board of the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), and the advisory board of the Digital Place-based Advertising Association (DPAA). He was named a 2009 Ad Age Media Maven.

Bill Day is CEO of Tremor Video and an Internet pioneer with a proven track record of identifying emerging technologies to serve the needs of consumers, the media community, and investors.

In 2008, he joined video ad-tech company ScanScout as CEO. Tremor Media acquired ScanScout in November 2010, appointing Bill to serve as CEO of the combined entity, Tremor Video.

In 1996, Bill co-founded About.com, the largest and—at that time—fastest-growing content destination on the Internet. He served as the company’s president and COO during its 1998 IPO, and then as CEO from 2001–2003 after the company was sold to Primedia. While there he helped to invent, introduce, and popularize such Internet staples as blogging, content SEO, and contextual pay-per-click advertising.

Afterward, he went on to build other influential companies. He was CEO of behavioral targeting firm MeMedia from 2004 to 2006. In 2007, he was named chief media officer of Marchex, a company specializing in local search and providing a local-merchant ad platform.

Earlier in his career, he held a variety of senior leadership roles at Prodigy, which pioneered advertising supported consumer online services. While at Prodigy, he was responsible for the company’s Internet initiatives including its web browser, community and chat services, and ISP offerings.

Bill holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Eric Franchi is co-founder of Undertone where he leads all thought leadership, media and industry relations on behalf of the company. A respected industry leader, Eric has been featured in publications including Ad Age, Adweek and The Wall Street Journal, on Fox Business News and on stages worldwide including IAB MIXX, Advertising Week and Cannes. He has held a place on the board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) for several years, helping guide the digital advertising industry through a period of rapid growth and change.

As co-founder of Undertone, Eric helped the company grow from a boot-strapped startup in 2001 to a highly profitable ad network. The company pivoted to become the leader in high-impact digital advertising solutions for brands, and was successfully acquired by Perion (NASDAQ: PERI) in 2015. Eric began his career in digital in the industry’s early days as a sales executive for About.com. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He serves as an angel investor/advisor for multiple technology companies. In 2015 he started his highly influential newsletter The IO, which hosts a weekly roundup of the most important news in advertising technology of digital media.

While at ANA Nick also led the transformation of the ANA’s School of Marketing practice and has run several of the ANA’s Industry Leadership initiatives including the globally renowned Marketing2020 – Organizing for Growth initiative and the re-launch of the ANA Alliance for Family Entertainment. He has served as a Director on the Marketing Accountability Standards Board (MASB) and ran the ANA’s national Member Relations team. Before joining the ANA he spent about nine years with Citizens Financial Group/Royal Bank of Scotland. While there, Nick was a senior vice president in the marketing group, where he ran the one‐to‐one marketing practice, led the annual marketing planning initiative, established relationships and business protocols between Marketing and the Bank’s operations, customer service and technology departments, and launched the first media mix modeling initiative for the company. Prior to this Nick spent over eight years in NYC between Ogilvy and Y&R/Wunderman, and began his marketing career in Delaware at MBNA/Bank of America.

In early 1995, under Mr. Batkin’s leadership IMI, became the Interactive Marketing Agency of Record, 
for Yahoo! and developed the branding and media strategy to create Yahoo! into a powerhouse Internet media company with a multi-billion dollar valuation. IMI was also the exclusive digital media advertising sales organization for Yahoo! for the first two years of Yahoo’s young life and handed over 1700 sales relationships to the new sales team that was developed by Mr. Batkin. In this time frame, IMI performed similar work for Netscape, ZDNet, Playboy, the National Football League, where Mr. Batkin created SuperBowl.com; NBC, MapQuest, Hollywood.com and many others.

In 1991, he founded The Creative Services Group and was its president and creative director. A year later, the firm was renamed Interactive Marketing Inc. (IMI). During this period, he began to focus the firm’s operations in three core areas: interactive marketing and promotions, interactive advertising sales,
and publishing industry leading magazines and organizing conferences such as: The Conference on Interactive Marketing East & West, Camp Internet and Web Innovation conferences.

Mr. Batkin is recognized as one of the founders of the interactive industry back in 1983, and has over 30 years of experience in creating innovative integrated marketing, digital media and promotional campaigns for Fortune 500 and Media and Entertainment companies. He has a well-known track record of vision of “what’s next” in the digital media space and has great long-term relationships with cable/broadcast television networks and advertising/digital agencies.

Andy has also produced TV shows having been the Creator and Executive Producer of a made for TV golf event called People vs. the Pros. This program was broadcast on ESPN for five years. In addition in 2006, Mr. Batkin, created The Trump Million Dollar Invitational. He was also the Executive Producer and sold the title sponsorship to Donald Trump, who served as the on-air host.

Mr. Batkin has received numerous digital media awards and speaks at many industry conferences. He has been quoted in major publications such as: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Advertising Age, Brandweek, Mediapost, Business 2.0, and many others, on the evolution of digital and social media.

Andy is a graduate of Boston University with a B.S. in Public Communications. He has served as treasurer of the National Association of Interactive Services and on the board of directors of the ISA (Interactive Services Association). He was also a founding member of the Internet Advertising Bureau (the IAB).
Mr. Batkin was the Chairman of the Interactive Promotion Marketing Council and a member of the Board of Directors of the Promotion Marketing Association. He also served on the Board of Directors for the OVAB (now the Digital Place-based Advertising Association) and was co-Chair of the Conference Committee and Chair of the Media Operations Committee.
